TOURISM IN THE UNITED STATES
The U.S. does not maintain a single tourist office for the whole country;
each state operates its own individual office. The mission of most state tourism
offices is to promote vacationing in the state by residents and visitors and to
contribute to the state's economy by supporting the tourism industry. For
example, many state tourism offices can provide information on amusement parks
and other popular summer vacation destinations. A few tourism offices also
manage state parks.
